This site has been top of the google list (Australian version) for the keyword 'drupal' for a long time.
I'm now interested in how I can optimise the site so that it comes up higher for the keyword pair 'drupal seo'.
With a bit of twiddling over the last few days I got it up to number 7 on the front page of google.com.au.
I'm wondering if I can get it up to number 1. I'm trying out a few things and hopefully report back a few of the SEO measures I've taken.
This site, drupal.com.au, is now (at 01:20 AEST, 19 Oct 2009), currently coming up as number one for the key word search 'Drupal SEO' (on the Google Australian listings)
That shift from position 7 to position 1 happened in a few hours real-time. I expected something measured in weeks, or at best days.
Of course these positions could alter. I'll keep monitoring.
Google result Monday 9 November 2009 - keyword drupal The task of course is to prove my expertise in search engine optimisation. There are a lot of firms offering SEO in Australia. How many of those have developed expertise in the unique way that Drupal does things? I'll play around with matching my prominence with SEO firms.
The task involves two quite distinct skill-sets.
I've had success previously with improving client sites in terms of SEO. I'm happy to take on new Drupal SEO projects.
Perhaps if I get to position 3 or above I'll begin to put together a package for clients who wish me to improve their Drupal site SEO. Watch this space.
